HEARING A LOUD KNOCK on the bedroom door, Alyson remained frozen. That was until she heard Tiger’s voice. Relief flooding through her, she yanked the door open. ‘Thank God you’re back!’ she cried, throwing herself against his chest.

Tiger awkwardly extracted Alyson from against him and shut the door. He didn’t know what to think about what he’d been summoned here for. Was it the anger of being accused again or what felt like more accusations over something he had no part of, coupled with the fury over whether there was truth behind Colt attacking Alyson? All these things clashed with the overpowering urge to comfort the young woman in front of him.

Tiger’s tumult of conflicting emotions did nothing but lend him an expression and mannerisms which sent Alyson into a tailspin, her initial relief on his return dissolving into dust.

‘What exactly has been happening?’ Tiger asked, his tone gruff and expressionless.

Unaware that this was Tiger’s natural defence mechanism, the words Alyson had overheard spoken between him, Colt and Erin slammed back into her mind and suspicion overtook all else. ‘Just tell me - did you watch those films? How many copies of them are there?’

She almost choked saying the word ‘films’. Just the thought of those tapes containing her at her most vulnerable; behaving like the wanton slut everyone knew she must be, was something she couldn’t unsee. The images were burnt onto her retinas for eternity.

Tiger’s heavy brow furrowed, the flash of anger clear. His mouth moved but before he could speak, Alyson continued. ‘That you haven’t denied it, speaks volumes,’ she yelled. ‘How could you?’

Before she could stop herself, she slammed her balled fists into Tiger’s chest. Pummelling his muscular frame did nothing but it mattered little. ‘You watched me... doing... doing those... those things... You didn’t even tell me about the films! Something else you’ve hidden from me when I asked! First Skye and now this! You... you...’

‘Be careful what you say,’ Tiger bellowed, grabbing Alyson’s wrist. ‘You’re talking shit, girl! You’re accusing me of things you shouldn’t be!’

Alyson stared at Tiger’s hand on her wrist. Her eyes tracked to his, seeing them flashing with hurt and rage and she sagged, her arms dropping to her sides realising yet again she’d launched at the wrong person.

Tiger glared at Alyson’s visibly shrinking figure, the conflicting emotions within him still battling for control. ‘Since when am I beholden to inform you about anything?’ he yelled, the hurt of yet another accusation and from this particular person, triggering his own defensive stance. ‘You were foisted onto me, remember? Unless I’m mistaken, I wasn’t aware I’m liable to run anything past you! You’re part of my job, that’s all. But no, I did not watch those films!’

He folded his arms over his wide chest, not reacting to the tears now flowing freely down Alyson’s cheeks. Inside, he wanted to pull her into his arms and explain that he had been trying to protect her by not mentioning the films - trying to save her dignity.
